Animaloids

Animaloids are anthropomorphic animals or humanoid animals. They are able to wear clothes and function more or less like any human being. They just have the overall appearance of an animal. These animals are sometimes broken up into separate races altogether, and sometimes, they live together in a society with ease.

Check out the different types of animaloids one can find in Lotherria. Remember, this is not an exhaustive list, and new animaloids could be added (or removed) at any time. Also, take note that the descriptions are very basic. If you want to know more about these races, keep an eye out for new novels that may involve them, or check out upcoming tomes that cover these races much more in depth.

Apemen

You already know what these look like if you've seen the 1960's version or Time Burton's version of Planet of the Apes. The subspecies of which include: Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Bonobos, Orangutans, and Gibbons.

However, information about them and their society has not yet been fully developed. Keep checking back for updates.

What we do know is that apemen are one of the few animaloids that do not have digitigrade feet. Instead, they have plantigrade feet but can easily use their feet as another set of hands if needed.

Avianites

Avianites are anthropomorphic birds. They have humanoid torsos but retain their bird feet, tails, wings, and bird heads. They also have a set of arms and hands, meaning their wings are on their backs. They wear clothes like normal people, though their trousers tend to go no lower than just above their ankles, allowing their bird legs to bend without restriction. They can even wear glasses.

Some of the most common types of Avianites are: Crows/Ravens, Owls, and Eagles, but you'll certainly find a wide range of types, including chickens and peafowl or blue jays and robins, even ducks or swans, and the list goes on.

Some of these creatures will make their own towns and cities where you'll primarily find only one subspecies, such as Owlmen or maybe Gullmen, or even Peafowlmen. However, the most popular way of their societies is that there are large, intermixed cities, allowing all types of Avianites to live together.

Despite being birds and having a very upward design in city planning, there is consideration for Avianites that are more ground based, such as ostriches or kiwis.

Batfolk

These are not your typical crime-fighting folk. These are anthropomorphic bats. Sadly, there is little information known about these creatures at this time, as they have not yet been fully developed. Keep checking back for updates.

Bruinfolk

Bruinfolk are bearfolk. They have humanoid torsos and walk upright, but they are pretty much all bear everywhere else, and even their torsos are covered in fur. They do have a hand that is a mix of human and bear, allowing them use of claws, but also the dexterity of humans.

Bruinfolk are common all over Lotherria, with colder climates boasting grizzly and polar bear subspecies, temperate regions seeing brown and black bear subspecies, and much hotter climates seeing more mountainous or tropical bears, including giant panda bruinfolk.

Since there are so many types that span over so many regions, bruinfolk do not have a universal language aside from Ertoudu, which is the common, merchant, or business language of Lotherria. Aside from that, they may have their own local and traditional languages. Likewise, they may have a wide range of cultures, just like various groups of humans would.

To note: koala bears are not among bruinfolk, as they are not bears. It is also interesting to note that Bruinfolk have plantigrade feet instead of digitigrade feet. They are one of the few animaloids that lack this feature.

Kattaka

Kattaka are humanoid domestic cats. To clarify, they aren't normally slaves. They just have the forms of what we would know to be domestic cats. They come in a variety of types, from short to long hair, flat-faced to defaulted feline-faced, to very triangular-faced. They also come in a range of color patterns. Those that are "purebred" will often sport the look of the breed of cat they are, such as a Siamese, Persian, Cornish Rex, or Maine Coon. Of course, they have their own names for these breeds, as obviously they do not have the same countries as we do (though there are some towns with names we would recognize, but they are nothing like our world's version). However, it is common for Kattaka to just choose whomever they love or like, so any range of "mongrel" Kattaka can exist.

Stereotypically, Kattaka work in areas of service. They are merchants, innkeepers, restauranteurs, but can take on any range of jobs of their choosing. They are found on every continent and every country to some extent in Lotherria.

Kattaka do have their own towns in some areas, however, it is most common to find them in mixed-race cities and towns where they enjoy interacting with others.

Lamias

Lamias are primarily found in northeastern Tal'Zephron. There, they have cities and towns where they have created their own culture and even subcultures. However, that is not to say that one cannot find a Lamia anywhere else in Lotherria. In fact, it's pretty easy to find at least one in a mixed-species city.

Lamias are snake-people. Their upper bodies are that of a human being but from the waist down, they possess snake bodies. The type of snake can vary, though if a Lamia has the body of a venomous snake, there is no need to fear. They are not venomous, but they do have strong bodies with intense muscles. Despite the type of snake body they possess, Lamias are constrictors. While they do not possess massive fangs, they do possess a simple set of fangs.

Since their sex organs are inside their body until it's time to use them, Lamia can slither around naked if they choose, though even among their own kind, this is seen as strange behavior. They do prefer to wear some sort of clothing, even if it is only to cover their upper bodies, though a lot of styles are dresses or tunic types that have sashes that cover the cloacal area.

Lamias tend to be business owners when possible. They may own a regular store, or be a tailor, or restauranteur, or any number of things based on their skill.

By the way, for those who are curious, yes, they have two. ;)

Lepidopterans

Lepidopterans are one of two moth-like humanoids in Lotherria. They have a humanoid body, which is elongated to make room for a second pair of arms, each arm ending in a hand with three fingers and a thumb. They also have feet that end in two long claws in the front and a small one in the back. Their limbs are not segmented like a real insect but are very smooth and peach fuzzy They have a humanoid face, but no nose, as they use other body parts to smell. They have large moth-like wings that can be used as cloaks when they are not flying. Females have short, somewhat fluffy antennas, but males have larger and fluffier antennas. They are covered all over in peach fuzz and have eyes that are more humanoid, as in they can blink, but they usually come in a solid color, such as red, purple, blue, brown, or black. They are also one of the few non-human species that does not have digitigrade feet.

Until a better piece of concept art is made, a good idea of what a Lepitopteran would look like would be something like Valentino from Hazbin Hotel in our world.

Moths aren't the only type of Lepidopteran. There are also butterflies. There can be any range of beautiful wing colors, and this race themselves can come in any range of colors. While they are split into a moth/butterfly society, where the moths primarily come out at night and butterflies during the day, it is not impossible for one of either subspecies to flip their sleep cycles. In fact, it's pretty common. Also, the two subspecies are commonly able to interbreed.

Their society is rather lax in some ways and strict in others. Their towns and cities are usually made up of stone and a variety of mosses, specific trees and fungi, and practically wallpapered in flowers. They have a 36-hour functioning society, meaning their towns and cities never sleep. Some businesses may close their doors after dark or after dawn, but most businesses will function throughout the entirety of a day, including banks, food vendors, entertainment, manufacturers, restaurants and more.

It is a bit uncommon to see a Lepidopteran outside of their own cities, but it's not impossible. Generally, when one does decide to leave for a mixed-species city, they go to great lengths to try to recreate their habitat in some way. Don't be surprised to see one's house or apartment filled with plants.

These creatures are omnivorous. While they love their nectars, they also enjoy fruit juices but tend to enjoy fresh produce. They may drink blood on occasion and may partake in meaty meals. They have been known to bite other races for some blood, though while it initially hurts, they have a chemical in their saliva that numbs and warms the bite, making it almost pleasurable. It's rare, however for fatalities to occur. Lepidopterans prefer short sips, and if they want a long drink, there are normally ways to get that without bothering other peoples. There are blood substitutes as well as blood donors. Lepidopterans are one of the few races able to eat slithy toves and their mushrooms safely, though these creatures do cause a drug-like buzz. They can also safely process the poison in the animal and mushrooms into a semi-safe powder to be used in "opium dens," though doses are still restricted as non-fatal and fatal overdoses can occur.

Lepurans

Lepurans are, as the name suggests, rabbit people. They come in two types: the true animaloid type, which is a humanoid with bunny feet, tail, fur, and bunny heads. The other type is the flat-faced or human-headed type. However, this second type is still in the same body structure and retain rabbit or hare ears. Their skin is usually the same color as their fur. They are normal human-sized creatures.

Sadly, little is known about this race at this time, as they have not yet been fully developed. Keep checking back for updates!

Loxophants

Loxophants are elephantfolk. While these are large animaloids, they are not outrageously tall, considering their animal. Many stand 7-9ft on average. Pygmy subraces may be as small as 5-7ft. This race includes the subraces of: pygmies, mammoths, mastodons, African and Asian elephant types.

Sadly, little else is known about this race at this time, as they have not been fully developed. Keep checking back for updates!

Lupini

Lupini is the Lotherrian equivalent of the Dogmen or Lycan. These are not shapeshifters, and they don't have a bite that turns people into more Lupini. The Lupini are anthrpomorphic versions of canids of the wilds: Wolves, Foxes, Coyotes, etc.

All of these subspecies can have their own villages, but they can also live together in a collective society. However, Lupini are very common in mixed-species cities. They also can live in the wilds as feral beast men. They can be seen as monsters by some and just everyday neighbors by others.

The Lupini need to be further developed, as only the most basic information is currently available.

Monkeymen

Monkeymen are similar to apemen, except they are anthropomorphic monkeys and not apes. They are quick, clever, and very dexterous and acrobatic.

Sadly, not much is currently known about this race, as it is not fully developed. Keep checking back for updates!

Mothran

Mothrans are the second moth-like race in Lotherria. This race looks vastly different from the Lepidopteran and resemble our cryptid, the Mothman.

Sadly, no information is known about this race at this time. It has not been fully developed. Keep checking back for updates!

Nagas

Nagas are a very prominant race in the southern hemisphere. While they prominently have cities in desert and savannah oases and rainforests, they can be found in many other locations, though not to make cities, but to live in the cities of others. It is common for caravans to travel all over the place, with Nagas having special merchandise and dealing in the slave trade. They will accept or catch any sort to be slaves where slavery is allowed and sell them off, be they to other Nagas or other races. In their Savannah and Desert kingdoms, human slavery is very common, though there are some other sorts now and again. Another common type is Lamia slaves, usually with the Lamia being sold or selling themselves into the trade when they are unable to live in a low level of poverty. In other areas, where slavery is not as popular, they have other wares to sell, often competing with the likes of Kattaka and Puppermen.

Nagas are also popular as soldiers, as they are very strong and fierce. They have humanoid torsos, snake bodies from the waist down, and snake heads. They come in a variety of snake bodies with cobras being the most common. There are two types of Naga. One is the Viper Naga. Just as it sounds, if the Naga is of a snake type that is venomous, the Naga themselves are also venomous. The second type of Naga is the Constrictor Naga. They do not have long fangs and are normally of a larger size with very muscular bodies, more muscular than the other type, though both are strong. Viper Nagas are able to constrict, but they are not as strong as Constrictor Nagas, who normally are python or boa typed, and yes, even anaconda type.

These creatures can really live anywhere. Viper Nagas seem to like hot, dry climates, though they can make themselves comfortable anywhere that doesn't get too cold. Constrictor Nagas are more common in the rainforest jungles, enjoying a much wetter environment. However, they can survive almost anywhere that isn't too cold or too dry. Both types enjoy beaches with beachside villages or cities being extremely popular destinations.

Curious again? ;) They have two too.

Panthera

Consider the Panthera to be the feline version of the Lupini. They are anthropomorphic cats of the wild, such as lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars, and even smaller wild felines like Lynxes and Pumas, and even small, like Pallas cats, servals, caracals, etc.

Like the Lupini, Panthera are a confident and fierce species that are at home in towns and cities and in the wilds as feral wild beast men. Different types of Panthera (based on their subspecies) are located in different parts of Lotherria, though, these days, they do venture far and wide, regardless of their countries of origin. Some still remain in village or towns of their respective types, though it is more common than not for Panthera to exist in mixed-species places or to create small mixed-subspecies towns in other locations.

Puppermen

Puppermen are the canine version of Kattaka. They are anthropomorphic domestic dogs, such as German Shepherds, Sheepdogs, Collies, and even Pit Bulls. Pupperman originate from the southern hemisphere but can now be found pretty much anywhere in Lotherria. Like Kattaka, they are known as merchants and work in areas of service. They do have their own towns here and there, but primarily, they enjoy making their home and living in mixed-species towns and cities. Some have a rivalry with Kattaka while others are not so jealous.

Scalari

The Scalari race is an umbrella term for a huge array of reptile and amphibian humanoids. Most of this race is anthropomorphic versions of their animal, with humanoid torsos and the lower part and head of their animal, as well as a tail, if any. Some of the subspecies, or subraces if one prefers, have digitigrade feet while others have plantigrade, depending on their animal and how it would walk.

While there can be more singular villages and towns, it is most common to see this race living together in big Scalari cities in a united fashion.

Viperan

Despite their appearance, do not confuse Viperans for Nagas. While they are similar, they are different. Viperans are humanoid snakes that have fur or hair on their bodies. They have their own body form and do not borrow from what we'd recognize as wild snakes.

Sadly, not too much more is known about this race, as it is not fully developed. Keep checking back for updates!
