Semi-Modern Technology

Think 1930s-1950s but without television. Primarily, when we speak of semi-modern technology, it is the enhancement of electric technology. Radio stations are more defined with entertainment shows now creeping onto the scenes. There are still no cars, but the usage of bright colors is a popular decor, making many homes look like the typical 1950s home and some businesses have a bit more of a 1950s vibe, including the drug store diners and ice cream shops where the typical 1950s diner is almost fully realized, though, again, lacking in reverence to cars and jukebox. Clothing in these areas are a bit more modernized for what would be familiar with the time period, primarily the use of fine suits, dresses, coats, decorative skirts, but sadly, a lack of greaser style, as there are no cars or motorcycles to look cool in. Motorbikes are rare and nothing like the big, familiar cycles like Harly Davidson or Yamaha. These bikes are more like scooters or just converted bicycles with a tiny motor.

Medically, there is a much better understanding of medicine, as cities with this sort of technology are usually full of educational opportunities for study and practice. Universities are top notch with the best educational opportunities. Apprenticeships may still be required, but the basic education starts in the classroom.

The big boom of these locations is the beautiful options of appliances and furniture. Pastel colors are on the scene, and bright, clear colors for appliances like electric stoves, refrigerators, and "accessory appliances" like blenders, toasters, and coffee makers are also available. Of course, only those that are wealthy have access to the flashiest of things while simpler options are still available for the underclasses.

As for the underclass, some common appliances that are also available are oscillating fans and electric heaters, though, for those that may lose electricity, there are options of gas heaters but sadly, no technological marvels for cooling down.
